Cancer is a commonly known disease in which the body cells
grow and divide in an unregulated pattern. The growth of the cells is
uncontrollable and causes mutation between them. This is the reason that the
extra cells in the body do not die when they should whereas some additional
cells are produced even when the body does not need them. This creates a mass
of tissues which is called as Tumor.
There are over 200 types of cancers identified till date but no definite
treatment has been suggested yet.
Cancer is an incurable disease that can spread to any part
within the body. This disease is commonly termed as a genetic disease because
it mostly caused by some gene mutation. It can also be caused by some lifestyle
and environmental exposures. It can occur also due to some harmful exposures
like Ultra-violet radiation from the sun, tobacco or smoke. Cancer does not
specific symptoms that can be studied but it depends on the part affected.
But
the most commonly found signs are unknown fever, unexpected weight loss,
excessive tiredness and certain skin changes. Nearly in 90%-95% cases cancer
occurs due to environmental factors and 5%-10% are affected by genetic reasons. Physical inactivity and obesity is the major
cause for cancer deaths. Radiation exposure is another reason for cancer and up
to 10% people are affected because of radiation. It is commonly diagnosed by
its primary symptoms and signs but some medical tests such as blood test,
X-ray, CT scans are also advised.
It is correctly said that cancer is not just one disease but
many diseases. It can affect any part of the human body and can cause
life-threatening conditions.
